The Laos government has agreed in principle to adopt 10-year strategies for artificial intelligence and satellite technology covering 2026–2035. The draft National Artificial Intelligence Strategy and Strategy on the Development and Use of Satellites are being revised, with the AI strategy expected to focus on infrastructure, databases, personnel and priority applications.
The government is also seeking investment in data centres, AI and other digital industries under its 2026–2030 investment agenda. Satellite systems and AI are expected to support applications including agriculture, weather and flood monitoring, environmental protection, transport and public services, while investment in related infrastructure and skills is intended to support technology-based businesses and digital services.
