The Government of South Korea is mobilising government and private sector resources to pursue a full-package entry into Vietnam’s USD6.474 billion North-South high-speed railway project. At the Korea-Vietnam Railway Cooperation Forum in Hanoi, Land Minister Park Sang-woo emphasised Korea’s readiness to share its expertise from planning to operations. The 1,514 km line will connect Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City at speeds of up to 350 km/hr.

Key Korean firms, including Hyundai E&C, Daewoo E&C, GS E&C, and Hyundai Rotem, joined the forum. Minister Park also signed an MOU with Vietnam’s Minister of Construction and met senior legislators to advocate for Korean involvement. The project allows for integrated participation in signaling, rolling stock, operations, and training, aligning with Korea’s “National One Team” export strategy for rail infrastructure.
