South Korea’s national rail operator Korail has secured a contract to provide consultancy services for the design of the upcoming Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) in Manila. Korail will provide support on system configuration for operations and maintenance. San Miguel Holdings’ subsidiary Universal LRT Corporation is the concessionaire for MRT-7, and the line is being constructed by a consortium of EEI Corporation and Hyundai Rotem Company, under an EPC contract. Construction began in April 2016, and is scheduled to be completed in August 2019. MRT-7 will span 22.8 km from Quezon City to Bulacan, covering 14 stations.
