The Government of Singapore has indicated that it remains open to renewed discussions on the Kuala Lumpur–Singapore High-Speed Rail (KL–Sg HSR) should Malaysia submit a new commercially viable proposal. Further, the earlier preparatory works for the cancelled project had included land clearance and infrastructure adjustments.
Also, any future proposal must meet commercial requirements and will be evaluated on its merits. The HSR had originally been planned as a cross-border high-speed corridor linking Kuala Lumpur to Singapore, with earlier designs featuring an approximately 350 km alignment, high-speed services, and multiple economic cluster stations along the route.
The potential reactivation of the KL–Sg HSR is being discussed alongside other bilateral connectivity initiatives, including the Johor Bahru–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link and the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ). Both governments also continue broader cooperation under ASEAN frameworks, including regional trade agreements and infrastructure initiatives such as the ASEAN Power Grid.
