Singapore-based Keppel Offshore and Marine (O&M), an offshore rig manufacturer, has partnered with DNV to explore hydrogen infrastructure and offshore solutions in Singapore. The two firms will investigate the safe application of potential new technologies and collaborate with key government authorities to encourage the use of hydrogen as a source of energy in Singapore to help the country achieve its decarbonisation goals.

Keppel O&M will use its Floating Living Lab (FLL) as a test platform for novel energy technologies, focusing on areas such as hydrogen energy safety, hydrogen storage and transit infrastructure, and offshore hydrogen applications.

In 2019, DNV and Keppel O&M formed a partnership focused on developing LNG as a fuel. Keppel Corporation, announced a restructuring exercise in January 2021 to transform its wholly owned subsidiary Keppel O&M, selling its offshore rig building holdings in order to better equip the company to serve the country’s energy transition.
