Japan-based JERA has signed an agreement with the Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS) to support the adoption of LNG in the Philippines. As per the agreement, JERA will assist with environmental impact and demand assessment studies, and develop national systems including regulatory frameworks for the full-scale adoption of LNG.

This includes support for the construction, operation, and maintenance of LNG storage and regasification terminals and gas transportation and distribution systems, support for drafting national regulations, support for natural gas demand and the feasibility of a power generation station/boiler in the Batangas Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and support for a life cycle assessment (LCA) of the environmental impact of adopting natural gas.
