Japan-based Marubeni, through its affiliate, will acquire a 20 per cent economic interest in Maynilad Water Services, Inc., which will entail obtaining a shareholding stake of 21.54 per cent in DMWCI. DMWCI is a JV holding company that comprises Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC) and DMCI Holdings, Inc. (DMCI), which hold a combined total of 92.85 per cent of the shares in Maynilad. After the acquisition, the changes in the relative shares held by the different partners of Maynilad will be as follows: MPIC 52.8 per cent (reduced by 4 per cent from the current level); DMCI 25.24 per cent (reduced by 16 per cent); Marubeni 20 per cent; and others 1.96 per cent.
