Japan-based Marubeni Corporation has announced plans to expand its operations in Vietnam with a strong focus on gas-fired and renewable energy projects. Several upcoming initiatives include the O Mon 2 gas-fired power plant in Can Tho and the Quang Ninh LNG power plant, along with investment in solar farms and smart city infrastructure.

Marubeni also intends to back export-oriented processing plants and industrial parks in major cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, reinforcing its long-term strategic interest in Vietnam. The company currently operates 11 thermal power plants with a combined capacity of 4,000 MW and employs around 7,500 workers locally, generating annual revenues of USD3 billion.
