Japan-based INPEX Corporation (INPEX) had announced that its final investment decision (FID) on the Abadi LNG project in Indonesia will be delayed. This is due to the disruptions caused in survey works due to COVID-19 restrictions in the country since 2020. The company is also exploring the possibility redesigning the Abadi project with carbon capture and storage (CCS) or carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS).
In July 2019, INPEX started the front-end engineering design (FEED) on the USD20 billion project. LNG production at field is scheduled to commence by 2027-2028. INPEX currently holds 65 per cent of interest in the Adabi project.
