The Indonesian government plans to introduce simplified pricing for electricity from renewable sources, including a feed-in tariff system for some power plants, to encourage more investment in the sector. The national energy policy revision (Regulation No. 79/2014) has set a target of 23 per cent of renewables in the total primary energy supply by 2025 (excluding traditional biomass), equivalent to about 41 GW. Further, the Directorate General of Renewable Energy has estimated that around 10 GW of new renewable capacity is needed between 2019 and 2025 to meet the energy mix target, but only 2.5 GW is currently being planned.
