The Government of Indonesia has approved the long-awaited North Bali International Airport (BIBU) project. Further, the government confirmed that technical preparations are complete, with the airport now part of Indonesia’s 2025–2029 national development plan (RPJMN). The new facility aims to bolster economic growth in northern Bali, reduce tourism concentration in the south, and elevate Bali’s competitiveness against regional airport hubs.
The Transportation Ministry will finalise the airport’s location ahead of construction, which will include supporting infrastructure like a highway and facilities designed in Balinese architectural style. PT BIBU Panji Sakti, the project developer, noted that all preparations are in place and that groundbreaking is expected within months. The airport is part of a broader national push for modern healthcare, world-class tourism access, and inclusive economic development across Bali.
