Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation has allocated IDR8.19 trillion (USD46.7 million) to the Directorate General of Railways for 2027, with funding focused on railway operations, passenger services, infrastructure maintenance and network capacity expansion. The allocation will support infrastructure maintenance and operation (IMO) contracts, address outstanding IMO backlogs and improve safety at level crossings.
The government will also fund pioneer railway services, additional services during the Eid period and improvements to railway journey monitoring systems. Capacity expansion initiatives will focus on Java and Greater Jakarta, including infrastructure upgrades, Phase 1 of the Surabaya Regional Railway Line and the Jabodetabek Railway Capacity Enhancement project.
