The JV of Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad and George Kent (Malaysia) Berhad has terminated a tunnelling works contract with Malaysia-based IJM Construction Sdn Bhd (IJMC), citing remodelling of the implementation of Kuala Lumpur LRT Line 3 from a project delivery partner regime to a fixed price contract regime. IJMC had secured a RM 1.12 billion contract in March 2018 to design and construct tunnels, station, and ancillary buildings as well as perform associated works over a course of 31 months. LRT-3 will span 37 km and cover 20 stations. It will be developed at an estimated investment of RM 16.63 billion. Passenger services are expected to commence in 2024.
