The Department of Transportation (DOTr) of the Philippines has signed a PHP1.4 billion contract with Spain-based IDOM Consulting Engineering Architecture for the detailed architectural and engineering design consultancy of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 4 project in Manila.

The scope of work includes preliminary designs, detailed engineering and tender designs, loan processing documents, financial and economic assessments, the project/loan safeguard documents, and bidding documents for the project. The company will also determine the proper mode of transportation along the alignment and provide the methodology for ridership validation.

The MRT Line 4 project is a monorail system that will connect the eastern part of Metro Manila to Rizal. The total cost of the project is estimated to be PHP59.3 billion, which is funded by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The project is scheduled to be completed by 2025.
