Huawei Indonesia has received the Anugerah Peduli Pendidikan Award in the Corporate/State-Owned Enterprises category from the country’s Ministry of Education and Culture. The award is in recognition of Huawei’s commitment towards supporting the development of technical skills in the country.

Education is a key pillar of Huawei’s global corporate social responsibility (CSR) and social contribution activities. In Indonesia, Huawei believes that it is important to encourage education to ensure the advancement of civilisation, as well as to improve competitiveness, especially for the development of information and communication technology (ICT) and growth of the ICT industry.

Huawei Indonesia has contributed consistently to supporting human resource development in ICT through a number of education programmes, some of which are as follows:

  • Since 2009, Huawei has continuously been granting scholarships to, and organising internship programmes for, students from reputable universities in Indonesia, such as the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Sepuluh November Institute (ITS) and Telkom University (Tel-U).
  • In April 2011, Huawei established the $1 million Huawei Training Centre in STEI ITB, focusing on IP technology.
  • Huawei collaborated with the Multimedia Nusantara University   for the Huawei Authorised Network Academy Training Programme in 2012.
  • In November 2013, Huawei invited 15 Huawei best student interns from ITB and Tel-U to join the Huawei Undergraduate Work Experience Training Programme in Shenzhen and Beijing as part of the Huawei Global CSR Education Programme called Seeds for the Future Programme.
  • In October 2013, in cooperation with the Human Resources Research and Development Agency of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Telkom and Telkomsel, Huawei signed an agreement to train Indonesian locals for the next three years. For Phase 1 (June 2014), Huawei trained 100 students from ITB, Gadjah Mada University, and Tel-U under the Huawei Certified Datacom Associate certification programme.
