The Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Management Authority for Urban Railways has secured funding for construction of the 8.9 km long section of Metro Line 5 from the Saigon Bridge to the Bay Hien intersection. Construction is expected to begin in 2015. The project will be financed by ADB ($493.4 million), the European Investment Bank ($202.38 million), and the Government of Spain ($269.84 million). The remaining amount will be funded by the Vietnam government.
