Ho Chi Minh City has broken ground on eight major infrastructure projects with a combined investment of approximately USD9.6 billion to strengthen transport connectivity with Cambodia and Vietnam’s southeastern coastal region. The projects were launched during a ceremony marking the 50th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh City being named after President Ho Chi Minh and will be financed through a combination of public investment, public-private partnerships (PPP) and private capital.
The programme includes the Nha Rong–Khanh Hoi Cultural Park and Bach Dang Riverside Public Green Space, the Ho Tram–Long Thanh Airport Urban Expressway, the Can Gio–Vung Tau Sea Bridge, the Cai Mep Ha General and Container Port, the Ho Chi Minh City–Moc Bai Expressway, the Binh Tien Bridge and Road, the Ben Luc–Long Thanh Expressway interchange with Rung Sac Road, and the completion of the Ben Luc–Long Thanh Expressway interchange with National Highway 50. Together, these projects will establish a strategic transport corridor linking the Moc Bai International Border Gate on the Cambodian border with Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau and Ho Tram.
City officials said the projects are intended to remove urban transport bottlenecks, expand logistics capacity, support marine economic development and strengthen regional connectivity with ASEAN markets. Private developers, including Sun Group and Vingroup, have committed to mobilising resources to deliver the projects on schedule while supporting Ho Chi Minh City’s long-term urban and economic development strategy.
