The Government of Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) has announced plans to attain smart city status and establish a digital administration during 2022. The government will focus on developing and linking databases containing information about the public, enterprises, and land to governance, as well as identifying new development drivers. To speed economic recovery from the COVID-19 epidemic, the city will also deploy comprehensive digital solutions and make use of shared data.
In addition, to improve the efficiency and quality of public services, the government of HCMC will accelerate digital transformation at governmental organisations and promote e-government.
The city will also launch applications to improve engagement between government agencies and residents, assist businesses in accelerating digital transformation, establish a digital economy and society, and rapidly digitise priority areas such as healthcare and education.
The city government will create at least two technological innovation centres by 2025 to assist enterprises in entirely digitising operations. They will help businesses develop digital products by strengthening supply chains, transferring technologies and innovations, researching digital products, raising awareness of digital transformation, promoting an innovation ecosystem for start-ups, and assisting businesses in developing digital products. They will also collaborate with global businesses on digitisation and finance, as well as assess the efficacy of digital goods and provide assistance for the development of digital solutions.
