Hitachi Rail and Prasarana have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to strengthen their 30-year partnership, focusing on upgrading SelTrac signalling technology, developing local talent, and driving rail innovation in Malaysia. The collaboration supports Malaysia’s National TVET Policy 2030, emphasising skills development and technology transfer through joint R&D initiatives and opportunities in both domestic and international markets.
Hitachi Rail has contributed to Malaysia’s rail infrastructure since 1998, notably through the deployment of SelTrac CBTC systems and the establishment of the Rail Centre of Excellence in Batu Gajah. Under the new MOU, the partners aim to develop advanced digital tools for predictive maintenance and sustainable railway engineering solutions to elevate Malaysia’s rail operations and workforce capabilities.
