Hitachi Energy has secured two honours at the 2026 SEAL (Sustainability, Environmental Achievement & Leadership) Business Awards. The company received the Sustainable Product Award for its hydrogen-powered generator, HyFlex, and the Sustainable Service Award for its Applied Sustainability in Power Transformers initiative, reinforcing its focus on practical decarbonisation solutions.
HyFlex was recognised as a purpose-built sustainability solution enabling hydrogen-to-power generation without combustion or harmful emissions. The portable, plug-and-play system generates electricity, usable heat, and water while operating with minimal noise. A single 200 kVA unit can replace up to 300 tons of diesel annually and prevent an estimated 1,000 tons of CO₂ emissions. The technology has been deployed across Europe, including construction sites in the Netherlands, shore-to-ship power applications in Sweden, and a four-week diesel-free construction project in the United Kingdom.
The SEAL Sustainable Service Award recognised Hitachi Energy’s Transformer Life Extension Services, which focus on extending asset lifespan through advanced diagnostics, refurbishment, and component upgrades.
