Ben Thompson has been appointed as a partner at Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer in Singapore. The appointment is aimed at supporting rising client demand for project and infrastructure financing across the region.
Thompson advises on renewable energy, energy transition and environmental, social and governance (ESG)-linked financings, and represents sponsors, commercial banks, multilateral agencies and development finance institutions. His work spans a range of real-asset platforms, including conventional power, renewables and digital infrastructure.
Prior to joining Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, Thompson spent 13 years at Mayer Brown, where he was a partner and led the firm’s projects and infrastructure practice in Asia. He specialises in power and infrastructure assets, with particular experience in conventional and renewable power projects, including hydropower.
At Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, Thompson will focus on expanding the firm’s project finance capabilities in Singapore and supporting capital deployment into energy and infrastructure assets across South and Southeast Asia.
