Ho Chi Minh City’s transport department has proposed a 3.2 km elevated section along National Highway 13 to improve connectivity with Binh Duong Province in Vietnam. The project, part of a broader 6.3 km highway expansion in Thu Duc City, aims to widen the road to 60 meters and add ten lanes, including a four-lane viaduct. Estimated at VND21.7 trillion, the project will be developed under a build-operate-transfer (BOT) model, with 68 per cent of funding from the state and the rest from private investors.

The investor is expected to recover costs through toll collection over 21 years and four months. Site clearance and investor selection are scheduled for later this year, with construction beginning in 2026 and completion set for 2028. National Highway 13 is a key route linking HCMC with surrounding areas, but frequent congestion affects transport and mobility. The new expansion aims to alleviate bottlenecks and enhance traffic flow along this critical corridor.
