The Government of Hanoi has announced plans to transition its entire public bus fleet to electric and green energy vehicles by 2030, as part of a directive issued by the Hanoi People’s Committee on April 8. A comprehensive annual roadmap for this transition is required to be submitted by April 15, 2025.
To support the shift, the city will update quality assessment standards for bus services and accelerate land planning for charging infrastructure. The Department of Construction is tasked with designating land for EV charging stations and proposing interest rate subsidies for green vehicle investments. Concurrently, the Department of Industry and Trade will ensure a reliable electricity supply, while the Department of Finance will simplify loan access for bus operators.
