Hana Bank has signed a memorandum of understanding with Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) and Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND) to strengthen cooperation on infrastructure and green projects in Vietnam.

In parallel, Hana Bank and its subsidiary GLN launched a cross-border QR payment service in partnership with National Payment Corporation of Vietnam (NAPAS). The service enables Korean tourists in Vietnam to make payments using QR codes via apps such as Hana Bank, Hana Card and Hana Money, with plans to expand to additional platforms.

The QR payment system operates with approval from the State Bank of Vietnam and positions Hana Bank as the sole settlement bank among Korean financial institutions in the initiative. GLN will manage payment operations linked to Vietnam’s national QR network, supporting seamless cross-border transactions and enhancing digital payment integration between the two countries.

The dual initiatives, covering infrastructure investment and digital payments, highlight a broader strategy to deepen financial and economic ties between South Korea and Vietnam, combining capital investment with fintech solutions to support regional growth.
