Grab and South Korea’s A2Z have begun piloting an autonomous electric shuttle bus in Singapore to support first- and last-mile travel for Grab employees. The 3.9-km fixed route connects Grab’s one-north office to the nearby MRT station, with operations beginning July 9. The shuttle is equipped with A2Z’s autonomous tech and Grab’s IoT devices, and a trained safety driver will be onboard at all times during the pilot.
The shuttle has completed over 100 hours of testing, including data collection, sensor calibration, and algorithm training to handle real-world traffic conditions. Equipped with 11 sensors and a safety fail-safe system, it offers 360-degree awareness. The initiative is also exploring future job opportunities in the autonomous vehicle space, with plans to train up to 10 safety drivers this year. Grab employees will be able to track the shuttle in real time through the app.
