The Government of Putrajaya has approved construction works for a road upgrading project in interior Sabah, Malaysia. The project is worth RM320 million and was initially approved by the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) under the 11th Malaysia Plan’s (11MP) second rolling plan. It was initially scheduled to take off in 2017 but was delayed. The project will now be continued under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) and will be completed in 2024.

The project will upgrade the existing highways from Keningau to Tongod, with an intersection into Pensiangan and Kinabatangan. The 40 km road network will also include the construction of seven new bridges and is expected to reduce travel time between the two regions once completed.
