The Government of Laos has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Daochaleun Construction and THB Group to conduct a feasibility study for the construction of an expressway to the border with Vietnam. The 80 km expressway will connect the Huanmuang district in Houaphanh and Nam Soi – Na Meo International Border Checkpoint at the Laos-Vietnam border.
The expressway will be built under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model and is expected to take four years to complete. The expressway is a part of the fourth phase of a larger road construction project connecting Vientiane with Houaphanh. Feasibility study for the larger project is currently underway.
