The Government of Indonesia has assigned funds worth USD1 billion to PT Danareksa (Persero) to finance projects improving clean water access across the country. The funds have been sourced from domestic and international private sources. Further details about the sources have not been divulged.
PT Nindya Karya, the infrastructure unit of PT Danareksa, will undertake the construction of the water facilities alongside distributor units Perum Jasa Tirta 1 and Perum Jasa Tirta 2.
Currently, only 20 per cent of the population in Indonesia has access to clean water. This move is expected to significantly improve water supply in the country without straining state or federal budget.
