The Government of Dumaguete will develop a 174-hectare smart city project with the aim of transforming it into a new economic and tourism hub in central Philippines. The PHP23 billion project will be developed under a public-private partnership (PPP) model with EM Cuerpo Incorporated (EMCI). The project is expected to be completed within five years.
Dumaguete Smart City will have a 5G-ready underground cable network for information and communications technology (ICT) locators and mixed-use medium-rise buildings among other features. It is also designed to accommodate renewable energy (RE) sources like solar and wind power. The project will feature two wastewater treatment facilities comprising of a sewage treatment plant and a diversion piping system, filtering water before it is released into the bay.
