The Government of Malaysia has approved RM463 million to enhance public transport services. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi highlighted initiatives to improve connectivity, including the Demand Responsive Transit (DRT) service by Prasarana Malaysia Bhd, which has reduced passenger waiting times from 40 minutes to 13 minutes since its launch in June 2024. The implementation of Special Bus Lanes in key areas like Jalan Ampang and Jalan Genting Klang has also increased daily passenger numbers and reduced travel times, with expansions planned for Penang and the Klang Valley.

To improve road safety, the government will mandate speed limiter devices for buses under the CKD category starting January 2026. Ahmad Zahid noted that road accidents have claimed 5,939 lives this year, with motorcycles accounting for the majority of fatalities. Key causes include negligence, careless road manoeuvres, and drowsiness. The Malaysian Institute for Road Safety Research (MIROS) will lead a comprehensive study to enhance enforcement, data sharing, and road safety measures.
