Cambodia’s state-owned power company Electricite Du Cambodge’s (EDC) 230 kV Eastern Loop-Line Power Transmission Line Phase I project, was recently granted a completion certificate, marking an end to the first stage of construction.

China Heavy Machinery Corporation (CHMC), a subsidiary of Sinomach, was responsible for the construction works of the project. The scope of work under the project entailed the construction of two new 50 MW substations, expansion of a booster station, and building a 230 kV double-circuit line on shared towers covering 275 km across four provinces in North-Eastern Cambodia.

The project will greatly enhance power supply in the North-Eastern region and help the country achieve its target of having a transformer station in every province.
