The Government of Malaysia plans to conduct a feasibility study for a pan-Borneo railway system connecting Malaysia, Brunei, and Indonesia in 2024. The study will be completed in 12 months.
The funding for the project will be announced in December 2023 and will be implemented through an open tender. In May 2023, the state government of Sarawak submitted a proposal for the construction of a railway system across Borneo Island.
