Singapore-based Keppel Telecommunications & Transportation, Facebook and PT. Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin), a subsidiary of PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk have signed a deal to jointly develop a 15,000 km subsea cable system that will connect Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Guam and the west coast of North America. The Bifrost Cable System, the first of its kinds, is expected to be developed by 2024 and  will incorporate state-of-the-art optical submarine transmission equipment.

Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN) has been selected to supply and install the cable system for the project.

Once fully operational, the cable system is expected to be the largest capacity high-speed transmission cable across the Pacific Ocean.
