Malaysia’s Electric Train Service 3 (ETS3) will be extended from its previous terminus at Gemas, Negeri Sembilan, to Johor Bahru, with operations expected to commence by mid-December 2025.
The extended ETS3 route will serve major towns along the west coast railway line, including Segamat, Kluang, and Kulai, before terminating at Johor Bahru Sentral Station. The project is in its final preparation phase, with technical work being finalised prior to the announcement of ticketing prices. The new service is expected to enhance mobility for both residents and tourists, particularly benefiting secondary towns and smaller communities.
The ETS3 extension completes the west coast railway line of Peninsular Malaysia, providing a seamless rail connection from the north to Johor Bahru and supporting regional economic activity, tourism growth, and intercity connectivity.
