ENGIE and UAC Bhd have signed a 20-year solar power purchase agreement (SPPA) to develop a 7.35 MWp rooftop solar array for UAC’s facility in Ipoh, Malaysia. The solar array will supply 27 per cent of UAC’s energy needs, resulting in an annual reduction of 7,300 tonnes of CO2 emissions which is equivalent to planting over 100,000 trees.

The collaboration aligns with Malaysia’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Bill, aiming to reduce energy consumption and costs, and supports the country’s pledge under the Paris Agreement to reduce CO2 emissions by 45 per cent by 2030.
