The Government of Malaysia will announce passenger fare rates for the East Coast Rail Link after receiving regulatory approval from the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD).
The fare-setting process will be based on a market study to align pricing with passenger demand and operating conditions. The government expects to announce the fare structure ahead of the start of full commercial operations, which are targeted for January 2027, once construction, installation, testing, and commissioning are completed.
The ECRL is being developed by Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd, with Darwis Abdul Razak confirming that all works must comply with APAD’s regulatory requirements before revenue service begins. The project is intended to improve connectivity between the East Coast states and the Klang Valley, reduce travel times, and support regional economic development.
