Ecosoftt, a water management company from Singapore, has won the 2019 Zayed Sustainability Prize for improving the drinking water and sanitation situation in villages of several countries including India, Indonesia and Hong Kong. The prize is awarded by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in recognition of the innovative and sustainable solutions provided by the company in the areas of food, health, energy and water that benefit the communities in developing countries. With the prize money, Ecosoftt aims to upscale its business around the world.
The annual award was started in 2008 and is the UAE’s pioneering global award in sustainability. Awards are given to small- and medium-sized enterprises and non-profit organisations worldwide. Ecosoftt was founded in the year 2012 and specialises in decentralised management of water, waste water and environmental services. The company is headquartered in Singapore and also has regional branches in Hong Kong and Singapore.
It started its first overseas project in the state of Madhya Pradesh in central India in 2014. Ecosoftt helped clean the waterway in the state by installing water reclamation systems in the drain network to intercept the sewage and feed clear water to the river Narmada. By using technologies such as rainwater harvesting, drinking water treatment and solid waste management, the company has reached out to villages to meet their clean water needs. The organisation has also helped the Public Utilities Board to improve its water management efficiency in Singapore.
