The Department of Highways (DOH) plans to develop three motorway projects worth THB43.8 billion in Thailand. These include a 22 km extension of the Uttaraphimuk Elevated Highway. The project is estimated to cost around THB27.8 billion and will be funded under a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Works on the extension are scheduled to commence in 2023 and be completed in 2026, with the road expected to open to traffic in 2027.

Other projects include the THB12 billion upgradation and modernisation work, including the installation of smart tollgates, on the Bang Khun Thian-Ban Phaeo motorway. Work on this project is expected to be completed by 2025.  The third project involves the construction of rest and service areas on the Bang Lamung and Si Racha expressways. This project is valued at around THB4 billion.

DOH also plans to propose the development of five new intercity motorway projects in the 20-year national development plan. These five projects are estimated to have a combined cost of  THB250 billion.

Some of the projects includes the construction of the Bang Khun Thian-Bang Bua Thong and Bang Bua Thong-Bang Pa-in sections of the Eastern Outer Ring Road, a highway that will link Nakhon Pathom with Cha-am, a highway between Srinagarindra and Suvarnabhumi and a 62.6 km highway between Hat Yai and the Malaysian border.
