The Department of Energy (DOE) is inviting bids to install 8 GW of hydropower and geothermal power in the Philippines as a part of a new round of the Green Energy Auction Program (GEAP). Notice of guidelines and auction will be released in October 2023.
This is the unsubscribed capacity from the recently concluded GEAP2 in July 2023. Due to concerns over power transmission and a limited time for installation, only 3,580.76 MW, or one third of the total renewable capacity was subscribed by RE developers.
These issues will be addressed in the new round of bidding.
