Tanco Builders Sdn Bhd (TBSB), a unit of Tanco Holdings Bhd, has secured a RM43.37 million contract for works on the East Coast Rail Link Project (ECRL) in Malaysia. Under terms of the contract, awarded by China Communications Construction (ECRL) Sdn Bhd (CCCESB), the company will oversee the construction and subgrade works on Section 9 of the urban rail project.
The letter of award (LOA) is subject to the execution of a detailed subcontract to be entered between CCCESB and TBSB.
The ECRL is a 665 km standard gauge double-track rail system that will transport both passengers and freight between the west and east coast of Malaysia by 2026. The rail link will run from Port Klang on the Malacca Straits to Kota Bharu in northeast Peninsular Malaysia, connecting the East Coast Economic Region (ECER) states of Pahang, Terengganu, and Kelantan as well as Peninsular Malaysia’s Central Region.
