The construction of the Palembang LRT is expected to be completed by October 2017. The scope of the project involves construction of 24.5 km of tracks with 13 stations and two corridors. Currently, the project is 55 per cent complete. The LRT will have 14 train sets, each consisting of three carriages with a capacity of 500 passengers each. Therefore, it will be capable of transporting 4,000 people in one go. It will reduce the travel time of 1.5 hours between Ogan Permata Indah and the airport to 40 minutes.
