The Energy Development Corporation (EDC) has started construction on a 29 MW binary power plant as part of the expansion of the Bacon-Manito (BacMan) geothermal facility. The project will receive a investment of PHP7 billion from EDC. The plant is projected to be operational by the end of 2022, producing 215.8 GWh of clean energy while also expanding the existing 130 MW BacMan complex.
The project will generate additional energy by harnessing the heat from the 110MW BacMan 1 geothermal power plant without the need for new drilling. Construction works will continue despite the COVID19 restrictions.
