The Department of Transportation (DoTr) is inviting bids for the design and construction of the South Long Haul Project of the Philippine National Railways (PNR). DoTr will apply for a PHP142.481 billion loan from China to fund the contract.

A pre-bid conference will be conducted on June 11, 2021and bids will be accepted by the Bids and Awards Committee Secretariat on June 25, 2021. Winner of the bid will be required to complete works within 36 months of being awarded the contract.

The PNR South Long Haul Project is valued at PHP175-billion. Upon completion, it will be a 639 km railway system connecting Manila to Batangas City, Legazpi, Sorsogon and Matnog. Partial operations are expected to start in the second quarter of 2022, while the line will be fully operational by 2025.
