The Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department in Malaysia has authorised the construction of a new 33kV substation in Sook, a district of Sabah under the fourth Rolling Plan (RP4) of the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP). The construction is scheduled to start in 2022 and is expected to be completed by 2023.

Moving forward, the government will focus more on the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) to ensure rural people have access to 24-hour electricity supply, especially in Sabah and Sarawak districts. The government is also implementing the rural electricity supply programme (BELB) in six villages across the Sook sub-district to improve electricity supply.
