The Public Works Department (PWD) of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has approved construction plans for a bridge over the Chao Phraya River in Thailand. This decision was made after 40 per cent of the land required to build the bridge was acquired and compensation was paid out. Negotiations are currently underway to acquire the remaining 60 per cent of the required land.

The acquisition process will take six months once the budget is approved. A 350 m-long bridge with three lanes in each direction will be built as part of the project. Construction will also include an elevated road that will serve as an access ramp to the bridge. To accommodate the extra traffic, the four-lane Sam Sen Road outside the new parliament will also be widened. On completion, the new bridge will connect the districts of Thon Buri and Phra Nakhon.
