ComfortDelGro Engineering and Engie Southeast Asia have established a second joint venture (JV) to develop and manage renewable energy (RE) solutions in Singapore. Under the JV agreement, both companies will employ solar energy assets to electrify ComfortDelGro’s fleet of automobiles and provide quick charging options to drivers and public electric vehicle (EV) users.

The JV will also construct and operate rooftop solar panels on three buildings in Loyang, Pandan, and Ubi, in Singapore which will be managed by ComfortDelGro Engineering and will begin commercial operations in 2022. The buildings, as well as the company’s automobile workshops, will be powered by solar energy. The solar JV also intends to provide RE solutions to ComfortDelGro’s consumers and business partners that want to implement sustainable energy in their own facilities.

The latest partnership follows a previous JV established in September 2021, under which  ComfortDelGro and Engie secured a tender to deploy 479 EV chargers across Singapore by the third quarter of 2022.
