A joint venture (JV) comprising China Railway Number 3 Engineering and China Railway Engineering Consulting Group has secured a PHP141.79 billion contract to design and build the Bicol Rail Line in the Philippines. The scope of the contract will include the construction of 23 stations and bus depots throughout the region. Work will commence in the beginning of 2022.
The Bicol line will span 380 km from Banlic in Calamba, in Laguna, to Daraga in Legazpi City, in Albany Province. The network will also be a part of the Philippine National Railways’ (PNR) South-Haul Project, a 560-km line connecting Manila to provinces in Southern Luzon.
