Keppel FELS Limited, has formed a coalition with Surbana Jurong Private Limited, Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N), Technology Centre for Offshore and Marine Singapore (TCOMS), DNV, Envision Digital, and Eng Hup Shipping to develop Singapore’s electric vessel supply chain by 2025. The coalition will oversee the development of an electric-powered harbour craft and nearshore charging infrastructure.
The coalition and Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd (Keppel O&M) will develop, pilot, and deploy end-to-end solutions for electric harbour vessels. Keppel O&M’s Floating Living Lab will be used to test the efficiency of the charging infrastructure. The lifecycle management of the electric vessels and charging infrastructure will be managed using AssetCare, Keppel O&M’s digitalisation system. This will allow the project to be piloted and commercialised more quickly and cost-effectively.
The coalition will also construct land-based charging infrastructure, an energy storage system (ESS) to power the electric vessels and deploy standards for adoption across Singapore. Cyber-physical modelling and simulation will be used during the development of the harbour craft. In addition, the coalition will conduct research and development on advanced technologies, such as solid-state transformer (SST)-based charging infrastructure.
