CMA CGM has announced plans to introduce a 100 per cent electric barge in Vietnam, powered by renewable energy (RE) from a new solar farm at Gemalink Terminal. Operating on a 180 km route, the e-barge will eliminate 778 tonnes of CO₂ annually and handle over 50,000 TEUs yearly.
Partnering with NIKE, the project supports Vietnam’s Net Zero 2050 goals and advances sustainable logistics. The initiative integrates advanced battery technology and scalable green infrastructure, marking a shift toward zero-emission inland waterway transport.
