Japan’s Chugoku Electric Power has signed a deal to provide consulting services for power supply facilities in the rural areas in Myanmar with two companies, Electricity Supply Enterprise and Mandalay Electricity Supply Corporation. The deal is part of the country’s National Electrification Plan that aims to achieve 100 per cent electrification by 2030. Chugoku Electric Power aims to support designing substations and distribution lines, making and reviewing bidding documents, contract negotiation, and supervising construction works. The Japanese company had entered into the power generation business in Myanmar in May 2019 by investing in the Ahlon gas-fired plant.
